My Wannabe Chef #GreatMOEments – Making Salsa

[ 3 ] March 28, 2012 |

Last week there was a lot of excitement in our house. Not only did DH finally find employment, but I was offered the incredible opportunity to join eight other fabulous women and work with Moe’s Southwest Grill, and participate on their blogger advisory board.

Our group was invited to the Moe’s location closest to their Atlanta based headquarters. They closed the restaurant early so we could enjoy drinks, a tasting menu, fun activities, and some great conversation with the executive team of Moe’s to hear more about their organization.

Upon entering, we were greeted by friendly smiles and the signature shout “Welcome to Moe’s!” Which was followed quickly by squeals of delight when we all spotted our personalized Moe’s chef coats!

After donning our chef coats, we sat down to sample Cuban Quesadillas, Southwestern Cobb Salads, Southwestern Club Chicken Salad Wraps, and delicious Chimichurri Burritos. If you are lucky, you may be seeing some of these items in your area as they are rolled out to some test markets in the near future.

Moe’s restaurants are known for their free chips and salsa made with all-natural ingredients, so it should not have been a shock to see our next activity. We were broken into two teams for a secret ingredient challenge to create our own salsa! We were given a variety of ingredients (and very large knives), and set to deciding our flavor profiles.

Our team, Salsa Superstars, decided on a combination of sweet pineapple, mango, roasted pablano and some heat from adding a serrano pepper. And of course no salsa is complete without some cilantro.

I feel honored to be able to share more details about Moe’s Food Mission, fun facts, deals, upcoming events, and so much more in the coming months!

First up…how to roll the perfect burrito so they don’t look like this. :-)

Big thanks to the other fabulous bloggers and Moe’s team members for the absolutely fantastic weekend! Be sure to check them all out on Twitter!
