We’ve only been back in Pennsylvania less than a month and I am already missing a number of southern style recipes. One of my favorite southern classic desserts is Banana Pudding, so when I was asked to recreate Chef Antonia Lofaso’s recipe made with Breyers ice cream, I screamed YES, PLEASE! Ice cream is one of my favorite foods ever. Seriously, ever. The idea of making Banana Pudding With a Cool Breyers® Twist completely intrigued me.
Obviously ice cream is not pudding, but don’t let that stop you from grabbing the largest spoon you can find to dig into this spectacular twist on the classic flavors. Breyers has partnered with Chef Antonia Lofaso to create 5 fun, family-friendly recipes featuring Natural Vanilla to encourage family moments together. I’m taking advantage of weekend moments specifically for our family. While we are in transition waiting for school to start, the kids are staying at my father-in-law’s house during the week. It’s been a little rough for us to be apart after an already stressful summer move. What better way to put a smile on everyone’s face than to get into the kitchen and make an ice cream dessert together.
This recipe is super easy and there was something for everyone to do. Baby was able to slice the bananas and then Jed dipped the slices in the turbinado sugar.
I handled the stove top cooking part of the recipe by melting the butter and caramelizing the bananas.
The kids also helped scoop the Breyers Natural Vanilla ice cream into serving cups, even though I had to watch to make sure they weren’t overflowing. My kids love ice cream as much as I do, and it’s reassuring to know that Breyers is committed to using high quality ingredients. Breyers Natural Vanilla is made with simple ingredients like fresh cream, sugar and milk, and sustainably farmed Rainforest Alliance Certified™ vanilla beans. Breyers now sources milk and cream from cows not treated with artificial growth hormones* too. Just one more thing to feel good about when I serve it to my family. Breyers products are available in grocery stores nationwide for a suggested retail price of $3.99 – $5.99.
Breyers Natural Vanilla is America’s No. 1 vanilla ice cream, and parents now have additional reasons to feel good about serving it to their family. Make sure you check out all 5 Chef Antonia Lofaso’s ice cream recipes below.
