Ah, sweet summertime! Even though I work full time and don’t get an official 2+ month vacation like my kids, doesn’t mean I don’t love Summer just the same. Especially when my family is invited to enjoy a full day of Family Fun at Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom and attend one of their delicious Summer Culinary Series Events For a Tasty Family Adventure.

The Summer Culinary Series started July 8th and runs through August 20, 2017. You can purchase a park entry and a Culinary Series dining option as a package deal. The Culinary Series package includes an all you can eat buffet style meal served from 5:30pm to 8pm. Depending on the weekend you choose; the dining option will vary.

We were at the park last Saturday. We were all super excited to check out the Tex Mex Festival. Make you own chicken fajitas? Sign me up! Chips and salsa? Yes, Please! I was kind of sad we had to wait until 5:30pm, but Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom have so much to do, there was plenty to keep us busy. Plus what better way is there to spend a steamy, Summer afternoon, than by keeping cool in one of the two, massive wave pools.

I splurged on a cabana rental for the family. This was not complimentary to our visit, but they are saving grace when visiting the park all day with young kids. It gives a great place for everyone to escape the sun (and for littles to rest a bit), so the fun can keep going into the evening. For our visit, it was a complete lifesaver later in the afternoon when the skies opened up and the rain poured down.

The rain finally took a break and we were able to head over to Dorney Park’s new Parkside Pavilion catering facility. WOW! A lovely covered area, with tons of tables ready to accommodate everyone from couples to family reunions, up to 2,000 people. The area was huge! The panoramic picture below only shows one side of the pavilion area. There are multiple buffet lines and soft drink stations to handle large crowds with ease.

We ate our fill of chicken fajitas, nachos, and Tex Mex hot dogs. My son loved the bacon wrapped hot dogs and went back for seconds. The buffet was nicely arranged, with a good variety of toppings for the fajitas and chips. The staff was friendly and made sure all the offerings were fully stocked for guests. I was a little bummed not seeing Executive chef, Malo Jones, mingling in the area. I loved seeing him in action last year when we attended the Summer Clambake.

After enjoying our fill of all things Tex Mex, we attempted to visit a few rides. We made it to the Camp Snoopy area for one ride and sadly the skies opened up again. A little rain didn’t stop these two from “Dabbing”, but after they got off, it really started to pour. It was our signal to head out for the day. Everyone was soaked the bone.

There’s also big news! Dorney Park opened two new rides. Kaleidoscope – a circular ride sending guests on a counter-clockwise trip of weightlessness and acceleration, and Dodgem – the awesome midway classic. Who doesn’t love driving your own car, crashing and bumping into family and friends. Oh, and don’t forget, height restrictions may apply for any rides mentioned, so be sure to check the Dorney Park site for all the details you need to plan a great visit. We are already planning our trip back so we can check out the new rides.

There’s still plenty of time to partake in a day of rides, water play, and taste bud thrills at the upcoming Hawaiian Luau and Summer Clambake events. Plan your own family culinary adventure at Dorney Park. Don’t wait too long. Summer will be gone before you know it, and you don’t want to miss all the awesome eats!
