Snow Filled Holiday Family Fun @StoneMtnPark #SnowMountain

Christmas songs are playing on the radio, and I wish I could say there’s a nip in the air, but come on, you know I live in the south.  And even though it’s warm, to really envelop my family in the holiday spirit, we took a trip to Stone Mountain to experience all the Christmas festivities they had to offer, including snow.

Yes, you heard me right! Snow!  At this time of year, Stone Mountain offers guests an extra special attraction at the park…Snow Mountain.

Snow Mountain is a snow-packed mountainside ready for your family to experience everything from snowman building, to snowball fights, and even snow tubing.   Of course it was 70° when we were there last weekend, but it was still super fun making snowballs in short sleeve shirts.

After playing in the snow we headed over to check out more options. We had pictures taken with the lovely snow queen, where my son became a huge ham and cracked up the crowd with his crazy antics.  Heaven help me with this one.

After our visit with the snow queen, and jotting off a quick letter to Santa, we headed over to check out the Holly Jolly Cabaret show.  The silly performance had us all giggling while we sang along to our favorite Christmas carols.  We couldn’t leave Memorial Hall without decorating some huge cookies with icing and candy decorations.  Baby let her creativity shine through her cookie masterpiece, while Jed decided to just eat the icing.  There is definitely no shortage of sugary treats at Stone Mountain.  Between hot cocoa, decorated cookies, roasted marshmallows, and s’mores, there are plenty of options to satisfy your sweet tooth.

One of our favorite attractions at Stone Mountain is their 4D movie theater.  Usually, it’s a fun Yogi Bear movie, but for the holiday season they are showing the Polar Express.  The kids love the spritzing water, gusts of air, and jostling chairs. It made me want to watch the Polar Express again with the kids.

Given our already full day, and one overly tired four-year-old, we decided not to wait in line to see Santa but instead captured a family photo with the Coca-Cola polar bear before we headed out of the park.

Leaving the park, we wandered through the little village area and enjoyed the twinkling lights, that were only slightly dampened by a kicking and screaming four-year-old being carried by his father.  Yes. That was my child. Sadly, we missed staying for the laser light show once again. Next time we visit, I plan to to come late in the afternoon so we are able to see the laser light show.  I’m guessing that’s probably the only way we’ll get to see it.

It’s completely understandable that Jed and Baby were exhausted.  There is so much to do in one day at Stone Mountain.  If we didn’t live so close, it would be a great two day or more excursion for sure.  For us, there is always next time, because I know we’ll be back to visit Stone Mountain again.  It’s a great place for anytime family fun, and even better to reconnect before the hustle and bustle of the busy holiday season takes over your family’s life.

What’s your favorite thing to do with your family to get into the holiday spirit?
