WOW. We are already over a week into November. The holidays will be here before I know it. I have not started shopping, but that doesn’t mean I can’t start getting prepared by making some super fun homemade gifts.
This week’s #SundaySupper is all about sharing Holiday Gifts from The Kitchen. When you make something by hand, your gift has so much more meaning and added love than something you bought from store. It’s even better when your homemade gift is super tasty and heart warming like my
Homemade Peppermint Mocha Mix.
Ingredients:
1 cup powdered milk
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup instant coffee granules
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup chocolate mint chips
1 cup crushed peppermint candy
Directions:
1. Layer all ingredients in 1-quart size jar
2. Jar will contain 12 servings
I should have experimented a little. I think I would have preferred to make a few more pretty layers, and even attempt a little more design to them if possible. I happen to be assembling my jar while my 2 little demon adorable children squabbled non-stop in the playroom. Note self…make in an empty house next time.
Feel free to use different size and shaped jars and get creative. Just keep the ratio of ingredients the same. You can also hang a cute decorative tag on the jar with directions for use.
- Mix contents of jar in a large bowl
- For each serving, place 1/3 cup mix in a mug, and stir in 1 cup boiling water.
- Store remaining mix in airtight container.
I used the recipe for peppermint cocoa mix HERE as my inspiration, and this week the #SundaySupper team has 50 incredibly gorgeous holiday gifts from the kitchen to share with you this week! If you were planning to scour Pinterest for homemade gifts to make in the next month we got you covered!

YES! I’m so excited to see this recipe. Starbucks peppermint mocha is my favourite holiday drink but I’d much rather make it at home (by the vatful, of course. I have zero self-control this time of year). Can’t wait to try this!
Want to hear a secret? I bought a bottle of Starbucks Peppermint syrup last year and kept it at my desk at work!!! My favorite also!
Mocha is always my favorite and am going to make this soon! Love this mix and is great idea of gift for this holiday!
This is a nice variation on the usual hot chocolate mix.

I need to make my shopping list now. so many great recipes. I like making your own instead of buying from the store with all the unneeded ingredients they put in.
Wow! I love the recipes you gathered together. You are sooo thoughtful. I just pinned this peppermint mocha mix. Looking forward to trying it soon. Thanks!

A friend of mine absolutely loves Peppermint Mocha drinks, so I decided I would make her a mix in a jar for Christmas this year. I started searching the internet for recipes and came across few. I tried all of them, just to make sure I wasn’t going to give her something that tasted gross. All those recipes did not meet up to my taste standards and frankly, were just gross. I began to get frustrated. Then I came across your recipe! Yours was different by a couple ingredients and measurements, so I decided I had to try it.
This is by far the best peppermint mocha mix recipe I have found! It’s rich and delicious! I followed the recipe exactly, for the most part, for the jar mix I made for my friend. The only thing I did different was use Andes Peppermint Crunch Baking Chips instead of the mint chocolate chips. Since I personally like more of a coffee taste, the next time I make this for myself, I will up the amount of instant coffee and cut back on the cocoa. Otherwise, this recipe is amazing!!
Lydia, this comment made my day! Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know how much you liked the recipe, and I am glad you enjoyed it.
