Girl’s Night Out…Painting the Pumpkin Orange

Y’all should know by now, that I am a pretty social gal! I love meeting online friends in real life and will jump at any opportunity to do so. When I saw fellow GA Social Media Mom, Mandi of Cumming Local post on twitter about a Girl’s Night Out at Glazed & Fired,  A Paint Your Own Pottery & Painting Studio, I was all in!  My creativity gene is relatively limited when it comes to originality, but I can paint a pre-made ceramic piece with the best of them.

Imagine my surprise though walking into the studio and seeing this.

It seems my creative talent was going to be put through a more difficult test.
We were going to be painting this fun harvest pumpkin.
Too cute, right?

So I listened carefully to the Art Instructor, Jeanne Matey.
“Make a semi squished kind of heart shape.”
Done.

The instructor made it look so easy, but I persevered through my own doubt in my ability, and kept working on my masterpiece. I have to admit it came out pretty good.

I am definitely no Van Gogh, but I do think it’s nice enough to hang in my entry way to kick off the Fall decorating of the house. The evening was great fun. Everyone enjoyed the cupcakes, gift bags, and multiple raffle drawings scattered throughout the evening. Personally, I most enjoyed just being out and not having to hear the word “Mom” 30 times and hour.

Many thanks to Mandi, Cumming Local and the numerous sponsors below for providing the raffle prizes and contents of the gift bags. It’s always fun to participate in a social event, and then also leave with some extra goodies. I can’t wait to check out more local businesses in my area.
