Weekends are made for family fun. I try and bring my kids into the kitchen with me as often as possible and this weekend was no exception. Father’s Day was the perfect excuse to bake up a special treat for their Dad. We received a fun cupcake activity kit that included a recipe for Dawn Ultra Blue Velvet Cupcakes. The problem was I didn’t want to be stuck doing the dishes forever when we were done baking. Lucky for me it’s always a Speedy Cleanup With Dawn Ultra in my kitchen.
I decided to mix up the bright blue cupcake recipe with a side recipe of some orange for my Syracuse Basketball loving husband. The kids love baking sweet treats. I can barely get the mixing done before they are asking to lick the beaters.
The kids enjoyed swirling the batter colors to create their own unique designs. I was just crossing my fingers that the cupcakes would show the swirled colors after baking.
To top the cupcakes, I tried making homemade buttercream icing for the first time. I was very happy with the way the icing turned out, but of course buttercream makes one heck of a greasy mess. It is primarily butter after all.
Dawn Ultra made clean up fast and easy. Of course the kids took off as soon as they were done licking the icing spatula, but I didn’t mind. Dawn Ultra cut through the buttery mixing bowls and greasy utensils with it’s awesome grease cutting power. In just a few minutes I was back in the living room with them enjoying weekend playtime too. I even had some help with the dishes.
