Growing up, I loved celebrating holidays. For me, holidays don’t just mean Thanksgiving and Christmas. I loved celebrating any holiday that gave my family the opportunity to spend more time together in the kitchen together. GE knows the American kitchen is the center of the home, and this totally hits home for me here In The Kitchen. Cooking for the holidays involved a noticeable amount of stress for my mom. As the host for many extended family gatherings, I remember her shuffling entrées, side dishes and desserts furiously to make sure they all received the proper amount of baking time. Holiday meals take effort to coordinate everything on the table and ready to serve at the same time, and my mom was a master at the task. Food, love and family Help Make The Kitchen The Heart of Every Home, and having the right appliances doesn’t hurt either.
That crazy, holiday food shuffle is what originally sparked an idea for my dream kitchen to be equipped with double wall ovens. When we relocated to Georgia, one of my only requests for our new house was that it have an amazing kitchen. My wish certainly did come true. Not only did I get my dreamy, GE double ovens, but also a fabulous granite, center island work space. Gone is the stress about feeding a crowd or making sure all the components of my holiday meal are evenly cooked and ready to serve at the same time. I have plenty of space for the whole family to join me in the kitchen too. Who wants to spend their holiday alone in the kitchen? Not me.
Whether it’s baking cookies, decorating Easter eggs, or crafting, I use every opportunity to get my kids involved in fun kitchen activities.
It’s important to me that my children create as many happy memories from their time spent in the kitchen as I did as a child. I want to inspire their independence, as well as their creativity, on their path to become self sufficient adults. Once we have this cooking thing down, I’ll be ready for them to pitch in to tackle the weekly mountain of laundry.
