Saving Mom’s Sanity With The Droid DNA With 4G LTE #VZWA

I have been in love with my sample Droid DNA from Verizon Wireless. Not only does my smartphone save me money, but it also has saved me some very embarrassing moments with my four year old lately.  Why you ask?  Well, let’s just say, Jed is rather active. And by active, I mean crazy over the top, drive me bonkers until I lose it, active.

Jed The Wild Child

Jed is super sweet and very lovey when he is tired, but any other time, he has more energy than the sun, and never stops moving, or talking for that matter.  Ok, so he got the talking from me, but c’mon, every mom needs a little break sometimes, and that is where the Droid DNA comes in like an awesome relief pitcher to save the day.

Baby has karate class before dinner twice a week.  Jed used to sit quietly and play games on my phone.  Now, not so much.  He has discovered that the rest room is on the other side of the large mat covered room.  Jed believes it necessary to visit, said restroom at least 3 times in one class.  You would think he would be mindful of the class, and just cross quietly.  No.  That doesn’t happen.  He loves attention, so the minute that first student head turns, that’s all it takes to fuel his little jet pack, and start sprinting on the mat, and showing his own version of that week’s kick instruction.

These antics had me at the end of my rope.  The games on my phone were not enough to keep Jed’s attention anymore.  I needed something better, so I turned to YouTube.  No joke.

Jed loves watching simple toy reviews of his favorite character Lightning McQueen, Angry Birds action shorts, and Om Nom candy munching videos.  With the high performance and super fast 1.5 GHz quad–core processor and Verizon 4G LTE coverage, videos on the Droid DNA never skip a beat.

Now you are probably wondering, what’s so great about 4G LTE, and what exactly do all those letters mean?  The term 4G LTE is really two terms. 4G means the fourth generation of data technology for cellular networks, following 3G (the 3rd generation).  LTE stands for Long Term Evolution which is short for a very technical process for high-speed data for phones and other mobile devices.  It allows users to download more pictures, watch movies, and even video chat on the go via the fastest service available today.  No more of that annoying buffering message while trying watch your favorite shows or movies online.

Droid DNA vs Droid Incredible

The speed of 4G LTE enables you to video chat with ease, versus a bunch of wonky, delayed audio and buffering images.  You can share photos and video to social networks in just seconds.  Perfect for all you Instagram fans like myself!  Now, if I can only find the time to get caught up on my own YouTube channel, I know with the 4G LTE network, will let me share them quickly with multiple Wi-Fi enabled devices.  At any given time in our house, the WiFi hotspot on my Droid DNA is supporting no less than four devices. I can even swap photos, contacts and websites with a tap to other NFC–enabled phones!  Now all I need is a few friends with NFC-enabled phones. 🙂

Jed can watch, and easily hold the 5–inch, 1080p HD screen.  I also appreciate the durability of the Otterbox case for my Droid DNA.  If the phone does accidentally slip from his grasp, I know the phone will be fine thanks to the Otterbox Defender Series case three layered protection design.  There are two-pieces of polycarbonate to snap together for the inner layer around the device.  Next the protective screen shield is built into the polycarbonate shell to prevent scratches and smudges to the screen, and finally the outer silicone layer wraps around the inner shell and absorbs impact from drops and bumps.  Amazingly enough, he is completely silent now for the entire 45 minutes of karate class.

Do I have to pry the phone out of his hand as we leave class?  Maybe…but he knows a good thing when he sees it!  With Jed occupied, I can breathe easy again, relax a bit, and actually watch Baby practicing her forms.
