Feeding Unexpected (and Hungry) Holiday Guests #PlanAhead #shop

CB Disclosure White Background 600 px wide3:00 am, the doorbell rings and you wake up. Unexpected visitors. It’s your parents and they are hungry. What is the first thing you open? Why a Digiorno Rising Crust Pizza of course! I’m always prepared for unexpected guests to arrive, especially now, since the holidays are right around the corner. Luckily we have a large stand up freezer in the basement. It’s stocked with everything from frozen veggies, frozen pizzas, a few frozen dinner entrees like Stouffer’s Party Size Lasagna, Macaroni and Cheese, and of course my favorite dessert in the world, ice cream!

Digiorno Rising Crust Pizza cooks in a matter of minutes. Your guests are barely half way through their welcome drinks and the pizza is ready. Slice the hot pizza into small pieces, and it quickly becomes a group appetizer to share. I know what you are thinking. A single pizza won’t fully satisfy my guests. What do I make now? No worries. The quick and easy pizza appetizer is perfect for curbing everyone’s hunger while you place a Stouffer’s Party Size Lasagna in the oven to bake. The party size entrees feed 12+, so you know you will have plenty of food for everyone.  Nestle frozen foods make the holidays a snap.

Another great option to have in the freezer is the Stouffer’s Party Size Macaroni and Cheese. It’s perfect for satisfying hungry tummies after a long day of shopping on Black Friday.  Most kids love macaroni and cheese, including my own. I know I can bake a tray of Mac and Cheese, slice some leftover Thanksgiving ham or turkey, make my secret recipe garlic and parmesan steamed green beans, and dinner is ready to serve.  I don’t always have fresh salad components in the house so frozen veggies are my favorite go to side in a pinch.

I’ve saved the easiest for last.  When it comes to the holidays everyone seems to have a sweet tooth, at least they do in my family.  I stock up on simple, but fun and festive holiday flavors of ice cream like Edy’s Slow Churned Light Ice Cream in the limited edition flavors Very Merry Eggnog and Peppermint Wonderland. My kids know they are getting a big treat when there is ice cream for dessert, especially when it’s served in a cone with whipped cream on top!

I Almost always have homemade frozen cookies in the freezer too.  Making ice cream sandwiches with homemade cookies is big fun for adults and kids alike.  Scoop ice cream and place between two cookies, and then allow your guests to roll the edges of their cookie-wiches in the candy topping of their choice.  Leftover Halloween candy is perfect for this idea and so is the stash of holiday baking supplies I am already hoarding.  Experiment with Peppermint Wonderland ice cream rolled in mini chocolate chips or crushed peppermint candies, and for the Very Merry Eggnog try cinnamon baking chips or festively colored sanding sugar.  Cookies and ice cream – a perfect combination.
