Christmas Memories – Past, Present and Future #PCholiday

#PCholiday disclosureCoworkers sometimes ask and joke about how I manage to work, blog, bake, and still be on the go all weekend long with family activities.  My single response is I love it all so it makes it easier.  I am all about making memories with my family year round, but even more so at the holidays.  I want the kids to enjoy life as it happens, and have fun being a kid.  Don’t lose sight of little holiday pleasures, like the occasional cup of hot chocolate that is more mini marshmallows than cocoa and decorating the tree together.

Since DH and I met, we have been building a story of our life together that is shared through our Christmas tree ornaments.  I try and add a few unique ornaments every year.  There are ornaments from our first trip to Disney together.  Ornaments capturing memories of a Key West vacation where my husband’s discovery of the beauty of salt water fish and love of snorkeling was born.  The birth of our children are celebrated with multiple ornaments both gifted and purchased.  And what foodie’s Christmas tree would be missing a few sweet treat ornaments.  I love our tree is filled with Christmas memories of the past and present.

This year I am adding a few unique ornaments to our tree from the Personal Creations Ornament Workshop.  Since we moved to the South, snow is usually not something we see anymore.  I miss snow once in a while.  Well, honestly, I miss the thought of snow, not actual snow, so I picked out this precious snow family for this year’s latest ornament.

I even plan to surprise my parents with a personalized ornament when they come to visit at Christmas.  How sweet is this snow couple with double Xs and Os.  I love it!  I also like that it matched the snow family I received.  Even though it will go home with my parents to Florida, we will still be connected.

I have mixed feelings about the stockings I hang each year.  I get a little melancholy for the crocheted stocking my grandmother made for me.  My sister and I had identical mock mary jane shoe/cream sock looking stockings.  My grandmother must have gotten tired of us complaining who got which stocking because she eventually stitched our initials on the top.  I still have that stocking.  I treasure the memories that it holds, but I felt it was time to have a set of matching stockings for my own family.  I picked out these adorable appliqued ice skate themed stockings from Personal Creations Stocking Wonderland.  I love that everyone has a different character on their stocking, and of course each name embroidered to prevent any arguments on future holidays.
