BlogHer Food – Not Going?

Its a sad day/weekend for me.

Not only am I severely behind in writing here, (which I totally promise to rectify this weekend for sure, and to include some pretty fun posts about the Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show that was held here in Atlanta). I also want to thank the 3 people that continue to visit here daily, even though there are no new posts to read.

Today I change that.

The fabulous BlogHer Food Conference is here in my home city of Atlanta, and I am not going.

I’m a little bummed, slightly jealous of  a few friends that are going, and will probably be staring hopelessly the twitter stream during my lunch hour today.

Earlier this week, I saw another hashtag on twitter that intrigued me. For those non-twitterholics not familiar with Twittter, a hashtag allows you to search on a particular word or phrase noted by the “#” symbol.  The hashtag I saw was #BHF11PP, and it represents Blogher Food 2011 Pity Party.

How awesome is that?

I relish participating in a conversation that allows me to stand in solidarity with so many others like me bitter saddened by their inability to attend. It fills my heart with joy.

Now the best part I found after following the conversation a bit, is that a site called the pêche – Wife and husband with three kids four and under, just trying to make something good for dinner, actually created  a conference on the non-attendance. Fellow depressed non-included foodies can register for the conference here, volunteer to be presenters, and even have a chance to win a swag bag and other fun prizes.

Oh! And they totally offer bling for your site, which by the way, is a true testament to how fun people can make NOT attending a conference.

So go check out Chris & Karen’s site and register for the Blogher Food Pity Party.  It’s not too late to join in on the fun!

You can follow them on twitter @thepeche and maybe even find some really great new people to follow already joining in the conversation.

Today is #FollowFriday after all.

Who is your favorite foodie you follow on Twitter. Let me know, even if it’s YOU!
I’m always on the lookout for great people to chat with on Twitter.
