Balancing work, family and a blog can sometimes get a little rough. I love to cover fabulous, foodie happenings here in the Atlanta area, but sometimes I just can’t squeeze them into my schedule. When the opportunity arose to attend a premiere party for the new The Hundred Foot Journey movie, and I couldn’t make it, I turned to one of my fellow Georgia Social Media Moms to cover it for me. As a fellow foodie, I was thrilled to attend a VIP Screening of The Hundred-Foot Journey. VIP guests were treated to delicious and flavorful bites provided by S3 Catering, specialty fusion catering company.
S3 Catering specializes in multi-cultural and ethnic markets. They truly provided attendees with the ultimate global fusion experience. S3 Catering led everyone on a spicy cultural journey that set the stage for the sneak peek preview of The Hundred-Foot Journey.
The menu line up included:
1. Sliced Potato and Caramelized Onion Tart
2. Ratatouille Pakora with Tamarind Emulsion
3. Duck & Chèvre Samosa with Mango Chutney
4. Spiced Coq Au Vin
Plus a delightful Chai Mousse for dessert.
The Hundred-Foot Journey is based on a best-selling novel. It is produced by Steven Speilberg and Oprah Winfrey who have not worked together on a film since 1985’s Color Purple. The movie takes you on the journey of two cultures that literally collide when an Indian family (displaced from their native India) opens a restaurant 100 feet from an award winning classical French restaurant.
The heated battle continues until the son, Hasaan, develops a passion for French cuisine and the French restaurant’s sous chef. Hasaan’s talent and magical ability to intertwine the two cultures through his food was a gift that could not be ignored. Madame Mallory, the stubborn and competitive restaurateur, takes him under her wing to cultivate his talent. Hasaan’s culinary journey is inspiring and heartwarming as he struggles to maintain what his mother taught him as a child.
Food truly is a universal language that allows you to express who you are and your personal life’s journey. As I watched this movie, I thought about the ability to appreciate other cultures through food is fulfilling in more ways than just your appetite. This heartwarming movie shares a passion for food and the love that develops when two different cultural paths cross.
The Hundred-Foot Journey is a delightful movie opened in theaters on August 8, 2014.
