There is something about a chill in the air combined with the approaching holidays that calls for making a delicious, steamy cup of Hot Chocolate. Every year I try and come up with some new holiday recipe ideas that really make our Christmas brunch special. Who am I kidding? I may as well call it breakfast since I know my children won’t be sleeping past 7 AM on Christmas morning. Everyone will love this Heavenly Hot Chocolate Stuffed French Toast, and it’s easy enough to prepare in record time (and with minimal sleep too).
International Delight is introducing Hot Chocolate into its line of holiday favorites. It’s the perfect addition for this versatile holiday recipe and creates a sweet treat for my mini chocoholic children. This Hot Chocolate Stuffed French Toast is sweet enough for a special breakfast or brunch, but not over the top decadent like I’m serving them dessert. International Delight’s Hot Chocolate is Made with real milk, sugar and cocoa. Plus if your family gets a little hungry waiting for breakfast, you can tide them over by popping a few mugs of International Delight’s Hot Chocolate right into the microwave. Just heat, drink and savor the deliciousness.
You can easily modify this recipe with a variety of flavor combinations. In the past I have used International Delight’s Coffee Creamers to give my stuffed French Toast an extra pop of flavor. You can have fun creating a flavor profile your family will enjoy. Incorporating other International Delight’s seasonal drinks like Original Nog or Vanilla Nog into your favorite holiday brunch recipes would be delicious as well. Once you decide on the filling of your bread, simply make a few sandwiches, slice them into cubes, and place them into a large bowl.
Pour the hot chocolate and egg mixture over the bread cubes to fully coat.
Divide the cubes evenly among the mini loaf trays, and bake.
Look at how easy that was! Everyone is going to love this recipe. It’s not everyday your family gets to eat chocolate for breakfast. International Delight’s Hot Chocolate and Nog help get everyone into the holiday spirit. Head on over to InternationalDelight.com to share how ID helps you capture the spirit of the season. What’s your favorite way to enjoy the season flavors of the holiday?
- 12 slices of potato bread
- 6 eggs, beaten
- 1½ Cups International Delight Hot Chocolate
- ¾ Cup of your favorite chocolate spread
- Optional Whipped cream for topping
- Preheat oven to 375°F
- Prepare 5 mini loaf pans, evenly coat with non-stick baking spray.
- Spread 1 slice of potato bread with approximately 2 Tablespoons of chocolate spread and top with second slice to make a sandwich.
- Repeat to make five more sandwiches.
- Using a bread knife, slice each sandwich into cubes, and place into a large bowl.
- In a large measuring cup, mix together the beaten eggs and International Delight Hot Chocolate.
- Pour mixture evenly over the cubed sandwich pieces and gently toss to coat entirely in egg mixture, allowing all liquid to be absorbed.
- Divide coated sandwich cubes into the five mini loaf pans and press lightly to evenly fill the pan.
- Place the filled mini loaf pans on a large baking sheet and bake in oven for 30-45 minutes, or until each loaf is firm in the center to touch and a toasty golden brown on top, (an inserted knife into the center should come out clean).
- When done baking, remove loaves from oven, and let stand for 5 minutes to cool slightly.
- Top with optional whipped cream, serve and enjoy.
