Most people already know that seafood is for them, but they think it’s difficult and time consuming to prepare. Not true. Gorton’s makes it easy to get more seafood into your weekly meal plan. They offer a large selection of products, so when you’re tackling the regular grocery shopping, you can find something for everyone to enjoy. For a delicious and easy weeknight meal, I turn to Gorton’s new Gourmet Fillets, available in Parmesan Crusted Cod, Pub-Style Beer Batter Cod, Tuscan Garlic & Herb Tilapia and Signature Seasoned Salmon. This week I used the Pub-Style Beer Batter Cod to make these scrumptious Balsamic Beer Batter Fish Tacos.
I love making dinner when my oven does all the work for me. All four of Gorton’s, chef-inspired Gourmet Fillets are a snap to bake, and the extra-large fillets are made with real ingredients like roasted garlic, parmesan, butter and oregano and have no artificial flavors of MSG. The fillets are so easy, I can use the extra time to make my family’s favorite, vegetable side dishes. My famous garlic paremsan green beans worked great with the robust Balsamic flavors in the tacos. GoGortons.com has some fab recipes for seasonal side dishes, simple salads and more to add an extra layer of deliciousness to meal time.
Fish is an important part of a well balanced diet. With Gorton’s Gourmet Fillets, I have found one of the easiest (and tastiest), ways to add more seafood into my family’s diet. Fish tacos! And of course said fish tacos are not complete without a flavorful, crunchy slaw on top to pack an extra flavor punch. Diced cucumbers, sliced grape tomatoes, and crunchy cabbage are perfectly paired with the sweet and tangy Balsamic salad dressing. The cold slaw is a nice complement to the warm and crunchy Pub-Style Beer Batter Cod.
Can you see the crispy bits on the chopped fillet pictured below? My daughter devoured half the chopped pieces off the cutting board before I even had the first taco assembled. Seafood contains natural omega-3 fatty acids, lean protein, and critical vitamins and minerals that can aid brain development, promote heart health, help fight obesity, improve arthritis and joint pain and improve overall health. It’s no wonder the USDA, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, and American Diabetes Association all recommend eating seafood at least twice a week. If my daughter makes fish disappear that fast during dinner, it has to be good, and you can bet I will be serving it again soon.
