FAN-tastic Use of Social Media #StacksareBack at Moe’s Southwest Grill

It’s no secret I am fan of Moe’s Southwest Grill.  Their diverse menu, the offering of 20 fresh, flavorful ingredients, the enthusiastic “Welcome to Moe’s!” you hear when you walk in the door, and of course the fact that all meals are served with free chips and fresh salsa bar, all make it entirely too hard to resist going back time after time.

When it comes to being a fan, I know I’m not alone. This year, on Moe’s Free Queso Day, the franchise gave away more than 165,000 cups of their amazing queso cheese dip. That’s nearly 1 million ounces and huge amount of queso people!

Now, I admit to being a fan, but I am in no way close to the Super Fandom status of the group of fans that succeeded in bringing back the Stack.  Have you heard about this?  It’s crazy fan love to the highest degree, and I think it’s awesome!

The Stack was introduced in 2011 as a limited time only item and its return is due, in part, to a consumer-generated social campaign. Hard core fans of the product created a “Petition to Bring Back Moe’s Taco Stacks” Facebook page and surpassed their goal of 1,000 supporters.  The page reads: “The best item on the Moe’s menu is gone, help bring it back. For the cause. All of our souls ache.”  I’ve been to the page and of course I Liked it.

When I met the executive team in person, every one of them exhibited such passion for the brand, it thrilled me even more to be participating on their Blogger Advisory Council.  Paul Macaluso, vice president of marketing for Moe’s Southwest Grill said, “We love engaging with our fans online, but this is a great example of the true passion our customers have for our food and how we were able to bring that to life in our restaurants.  Bringing back the Stack as a permanent menu item adds yet another option for our customers to celebrate their originality through customization.”

The Stack is two crunchy corn tortillas wrapped inside a grilled flour tortilla, stuffed with seasoned beans, shredded cheese, fresh pico de gallo and Moe’s Famous Queso.  You can order the stack as the “Wrong Doug” with the customer’s choice of all-natural chicken, pork or 100% sirloin steak and “Julia Gulia”, a meatless vegetarian-friendly option.  My mouth is watering just thinking about the endless ingredients I can use to personalize my very own Stack.  Holy YUM!

And you know how I mentioned the salsa bar to accompany all those warm free chips?  There are currently two new, unique flavors of the season that can be found there.  A Fiery Tomatillo salsa is HOT and made with tomatillos, cilantro, fresh jalapeños, and habanero peppers.  Plus there is a Serrano Poblano salsa that has fresh serranos and poblano chilies, blended with tomatoes, hints of lime and cilantro.  Both are available for a limited time so don’t delay your next visit to Moe’s.  You don’t want to miss these seasonal salsas!

To see where it all started, check out www.facebook.com/bringbackthestax, and feel free to join me and give the page a LIKE!  I am sure the group with thank you for it.

What’s your favorite fresh ingredient to add to your Moe’s menu selection?
