Now for a limited time only, Wendy’s restaurants across the United States are serving up two amazing BBQ items that will show all that they learned on their BBQ travels. First, a BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich made of tender, premium, lean pork shoulder, slow-smoked for hours over hickory chips. The succulent shredded meat is topped with your choice of a custom-crafted BBQ sauce – sweet, smoky or spicy – and served with cool, crunchy coleslaw on a toasted brioche bun. Second, BBQ Pulled Pork Cheese Fries feature natural-cut fries, with a topping of rich cheddar cheese sauce, hickory-smoked pulled pork and diced red onions—topped with a choice of three sauces. Wendy’s recreates the preparation process for turning premium pork shoulder in the hickory-smoked deliciousness used in their two latest limited edition menu additions. Wendy’s BBQ Pulled Pork is shredded rather than chopped, to offer the long strands for great texture and three custom-crafted sauces for consumers to choose their favorite.

When first testing the cuts of meat to use for their pulled pork, Wendy’s used Boston Butt. However they quickly switched after consumers shared they prefer a leaner cut of meat with less fat. Wendy’s BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich is made of tender, premium, lean pork shoulder, slow-smoked for hours over hickory chips. They wanted to be proud of the BBQ they served, not offer a less preferred cut of pork drowning in sauce.

Speaking of sauce, Wendy’s also learned from numerous BBQ experts that the best way to apply BBQ sauce is to drizzle it on top of the meat right before it’s served. Wendy’s wanted to offer their customers a way to take their BBQ over the top. They created three custom-crafted sauces, and customers can choose their preference when they order — sweet, smoky or spicy.
