When we made the decision to move back to Pennsylvania my biggest requirement for the new house was to have an open and updated kitchen. I’m a firm believer that the kitchen is the heart of the home, and since it’s the main premise of my blog, a great kitchen in the new house was non-negotiable. Growing up, both my parents cooked. I have so many joyful memories in the kitchen of parents’ home that the kitchen is now my happy place. It’s important that a kitchen suits it’s owner in every way possible. It’s important for me to raise my children understanding that time spent together around the family table is important. This includes helping in the kitchen with age appropriate tasks. I wanted to make sure my new kitchen had plenty of room for multiple people to work at a time. But I also realize size isn’t everything in the kitchen. You make room to work with those you love and hold dear. Bumping elbows while learning some classic fish filleting skills is completely acceptable.
