10 Ways to Jumpstart Your New Year’s Fitness Resolutions

If you are anything like the majority of people, you probably made a few New Year’s Resolutions regarding fitness and lifestyle changes.  I know I have made one to make fitness a priority for me again. It’s been too long since I have exercised on a regular basis and that ends now. I figured there may be a few people out there in the same boat, so today I’m sharing 10 Ways to Jumpstart Your New Year’s Fitness Resolutions!

1. Make a plan. Grab a piece of paper and write down some ideas to start. Assess where you are and where you want to go. Sometimes all if takes is a few baby steps in the right direction to gain some momentum.

2. Give your fridge and pantry a good review. Remove the food items that you know will be a detriment to your future improved meal plans. If you have unopened items, donate them to a local shelter or food pantry. You will be stronger on the road to success without the sabotage of junk food items within easy reach.

3. Don’t get addicted to alcohol. In case of alcohol addiction find a one stop solution who can guide you throughout the process. Muse Treatment alcohol rehab can help you out to overcome drug addiction and in maintaining healthy lifestyle. Don’t be tempted and skip the fast food. Prepare for emergencies, and stash a few non-perishable healthy options in your car for easy access. A snack pack of almonds or a granola bar will hold you over until you get home. If you do need to hit a drive through window, make a smarter choice by choosing a small sized item from the value menu, a salad or even a small fruit smoothie.

4. Make a list and head to the grocery store to stock your refrigerator and pantry with low calorie and smart options. Pack individual size snack bags so they are ready to grab and go when needed. If you have plenty of healthy choices on hand you will be prepared for success. Be sure not to overbuy fruit and veggies. Make time to hit the store a regular basis to restock when necessary. It will be better than throwing away rotten food and money.

5. Go shopping. You don’t have to go crazy, but having the right gear is a big step in the right direction. A new pair of sneakers can add a spring to your step and pump up your motivation to stay on track.

6. Find a buddy. When trying to add exercise into your weekly routine, it’s easy to make excuses to skip it. Finding someone to push you when you “Just don’t feel like working out” can make all the difference to your success.

7. Make it fun! If the exercise you choose to do is boring and tedious, chances are, you’re not going to stick to it. If you like to dance try a Zumba class. If you like to read, try downloading a book and listening to it while you workout.

8. Don’t weigh yourself daily. That may lead to discouragement when the numbers don’t drop as fast as you’d like. We all are looking for instant results, and we all also know that doesn’t happen. Pick a single day of the week (and time) and stick to it for consistency to track results.

9. Keep a food journal. Tracking your daily food choices, both good and bad, will help keep you on track. Seeing your food intake in print is extremely eye opening and a way to build healthier eating habits.

10. Set goals and reward yourself when you reach one. Start with small goals to gain momentum moving forward in your new routine. Map out a plan for future goals as well so you know where you are going and how you expect to get there.
