One of my fondest memories of childhood is spending my Saturday mornings watching cartoons. I can’t recall ever being an early riser like my own children, but I am glad we share a love of staying in our pajamas until noon. If we don’t have early tee ball practice or karate, you can find us all snuggling on the couch chilling with some family TV time.
Now like every parent, I try to limit the time my kids spend doing their best impressions of couch potatoes. If they watch anything, it’s age appropriate and parent approved. In our houses, the TV is usually on some type of food/cooking show or Nick Jr. When we enjoy TV time as a family, I can feel confident that my children are actually learning while they watch their Nick Jr. favorites like Team Umizoomi.
Jed is a sponge lately for all their emphasis on math concepts, such as counting, sequences, shapes, patterns, etc. On his latest quarterly review from his preschool teacher, she confirmed this by noting his high skill level in math and science already. That makes this mom super proud!
Along with multiple educational shows, I am that mom that enjoys watching Spongebob Squarepants with my children. Yes, I giggle at the silliness right along with them in the madcap adventures un the underwater city of Bikini Bottom. I was shocked to discover Spongebob is also Nickelodeon’s longest-running cartoon. I guess I am not the only one watching.
